Over the years I’ve tried many face cleansers, some great, some terrible. Here are a few that I continue to use for different times of the year, or life.
Pre-wash:
Micellar water is now everywhere, the benefits and also many brands. [I use it every night over make up wipes] It’s better than ANY face washing cloth and easy to use on tough makeup like mascara.
I like E-race Milki micellar water by Drunk Elephant. If I’ve really gone out and done a full face of makeup then I pair this with Slaai Makeup-Melting Butter, This honestly does wonders, it melts off everything before you wash your face. The one down-side, for anyone who does dye their brows/lashes the oil base of this doesn’t help with keeping your dye last long. Avoid those areas if you do decide to try this product.
If you MUST use a makeup wipe the only ones I would recommend are the Ponds makeup removing clothes. They are gentle and are the same formula as the gentle Ponds cream, which makes me think of my grandmother… It works wonders and she was proof of it. [aww don’t make me cry on a Tuesday afternoon]
The Wash:
The name is exactly what it is, it’s gentle and easy to find in any drug store and a great price point. It doesn’t do the best job of taking off makeup at the end of the day but it does work well in the morning to just start the day with a clean face. [my derm recommended this to me in middle school and I have used it every morning ever since]
This is a face-wash I like to use in summer months, when my skin tends to get more oily because of the weather. It’s frothy and good for sensitive skin, which I do have. Not too pricey considering it can go a long way, no need for more than a small dime size or less.
This is a nice conditioning face wash, gets all my makeup off and is soft on my eyes. They use the same cleansing agent that is in contact solution so it’s gentle on the eyes and allows me to get my mascara and eyeliner off without scrubbing too much. [I usually love glossier products but the texture of this wash was a big strange to me]
